The process for getting a driver's license for first time is not as complicated as it sounds. The lines below were written in order to explain you one of the options that expats have to obtain the driving license in Ecuador.

FIRST STAGE

If you already know how to drive and you want to avoid taking the driving course, you can do it! What you have to do is going to a driving school and ask for a certificate showing that you have passed the driving test and the Psychosensometric test, of course it will have a cost but is not the same price as the whole course. At the Driving School, you have to present the following documentation:

Once the documentation has been checked, the officers from driving school will make an appointment for you to take those tests. After you have passed them, the school will give you a certificate and some documents that will be necessary for the second stage. Do not forget that those tests are valid for a period of 60 days.
