A temporary residency visa allows you to stay in the country for a period of 2 years, it can be renewed once. If you want to keep this migratory status, you cannot be out of the country more than 180 days within 2 years, if you pass the limit days the government can charge you fines or even cancel your visa.

This migratory status allows you to stay in the country for an indefinite period of time. During the first two years after obtaining the permanent visa you will be allowed to leave Ecuador up to 180 days each year. After 2 years, permanent residents will be allowed to get out of Ecuador up to 5 years.
